The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.
Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles, and wash them when needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. robot vacuum hoover and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
